HONG KONG, June 24 — Actual purchase data from readers of The Verge, tracked during Amazon's Prime Day promotional event, shows Apple hardware and Amazon's own Kindle lineup accounting for most of the top-selling items, with smart home devices from Google and smaller manufacturers filling the remaining positions. The data reflects where buyers are concentrating discretionary electronics spending when prices are cut, rather than what editors alone recommend.
Apple Occupies Four of the Top Purchase Slots
AirPods Pro 3, AirPods Max 2, Apple Watch SE 3, and the second-generation AirTag each appear among the most-purchased items. The AirPods Pro 3 are available at $179 against a standard price of $249 at Amazon and Best Buy. The AirPods Max 2 carry the steeper nominal cut, dropping to $399 from $549 at Amazon and Walmart. The Apple Watch SE 3 moves to $199 from $249. The second-generation AirTag four-pack is at $89, down from $99, at Amazon and Best Buy.
The Aqara Smart Lock U400, which uses Apple's ultra-wideband chip to unlock automatically as an iPhone or Apple Watch approaches, is also drawing buyers at $219.99 from $269.99 — tying a fifth product to the Apple ecosystem in the basket.
Three Kindle Variants Compete for E-Reader Wallet Share
Amazon's own hardware fills three slots. The Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition bundle — which includes a leather cover and wireless charging dock — is priced at $182.97, down from $334.97. The 12th-generation Kindle Paperwhite, named by The Verge as its top-rated e-reader, goes to $124.99 with ads or $144.99 without, against $159.99 and $179.99 respectively. The Paperwhite Signature Edition is available at $144.99 across Amazon, Best Buy, and Target, down from $199.99.
Smart Home and Subscription Devices Round Out the Basket
The Google Nest Wifi Pro — which includes Wi-Fi 6E, Matter, and Thread support — has moved to $89.99 from $199.99 for a single unit. The BirdBuddy Pro solar bird feeder, a camera-equipped device that identifies visiting birds via a companion app, is at $168 from $299. The Google TV Streamer 4K is at $74.99 from $99.99.
The Fitbit Ace LTE, a children's fitness tracker, carries the sharpest percentage discount in the group: $59.95 from $179.99 at Amazon. Buyers should note that the device's core features — GPS tracking, messaging, and access to the Fitbit Arcade — require a Fitbit Ace Pass subscription, priced at $9.99 monthly or $119.99 annually.
