Snap-on Incorporated reported third-quarter 2026 net sales of $1,183.7 million, a decrease of $7.1 million, or 0.6%, from the same period in 2025. Net earnings for the quarter stood at $243.0 million, or $4.64 per diluted share, compared to $265.4 million, or $5.02 per diluted share, in the prior year period.

The decline in top-line revenue was driven by a $33.1 million, or 2.8%, organic sales decrease, which was partially offset by $25.6 million in acquisition-related sales and $0.4 million from favorable foreign currency translation. Operating earnings before financial services totaled $248.1 million, representing 21.0% of net sales, down from $278.5 million, or 23.4% of net sales, in 2025. The prior-year figure included a $22.0 million benefit, or 190 basis points, from the settlement of a legal matter.

Consolidated operating earnings for the quarter were $316.4 million, or 24.7% of total revenues, compared to $347.4 million, or 26.9% of revenues, in 2025. The 2025 consolidated figure also included a $22.0 million benefit from the legal settlement. Financial services revenue decreased to $98.6 million from $101.1 million a year earlier, while financial services operating earnings were nearly flat at $68.3 million compared to $68.9 million in the prior year.

Performance varied significantly across business segments. The Commercial & Industrial Group posted segment sales of $404.3 million, up from $367.7 million in 2025, reflecting a 7.4% organic gain and $10.0 million in acquisition-related sales. Operating earnings for this group rose to $74.7 million from $57.5 million, with an operating margin of 18.5% compared to 15.6% last year.

Conversely, the Snap-on Tools Group saw segment sales drop to $471.5 million from $506.0 million in 2025, a 7.0% organic decline attributed to lower sales in both U.S. and international operations. Operating earnings for the Tools Group fell to $84.8 million from $109.9 million, reducing the operating margin to 18.0% from 21.7%. The Repair Systems & Information Group reported segment sales of $454.7 million, down from $464.8 million in 2025, with the organic decrease primarily due to reduced activity with OEM dealerships.

Nick Pinchuk, Snap-on chairman and chief executive officer, attributed the mixed results to an accelerated rise in diesel prices that prompted franchisees in the mobile van channel to reduce inventories despite stable demand from technician customers. Pinchuk stated that this turbulence substantially impacted the Tools Group but was overcome by record-setting performance in the Commercial & Industrial Group, led by gains in critical industries and precision torque.

Snap-on expects its full-year 2026 effective income tax rate to approximate 22%, compared to a third-quarter rate of 22.3%. The company projects 2026 capital expenditures will approximate $100 million, of which $69.0 million was incurred in the first nine months of the year.
