Southwest Airlines will launch 11 new nonstop international routes beginning in November, expanding its tropical network from multiple U.S. hubs. The carrier's first addition under this plan is a nonstop flight from Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas to Puerto Vallarta (PVR), commencing on Nov. 1. The New York Post reported that Southwest currently accounts for more than 40% of all flight operations at LAS.
Further international service will be added from Nashville International Airport (BNA). In February 2027, Southwest plans to begin nonstop flights from BNA to Liberia, followed by service to Aruba (AUA) in March. According to the New York Post, demand for travel to Liberia has increased by 11.8% in recent months, though the U.S. Department of State has a Level 2 travel advisory in effect for the country. The department also notes that all Americans must procure a visa before visiting Liberia, regardless of trip length.
In June, BNA will see two more nonstop destinations: Nassau (NAS) and Providenciales (PLS). Southwest Airlines will be the only carrier offering direct flights to all four of these new Nashville destinations. The airline will also expand its international options from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS). Service to San José, Costa Rica, starts in March, while nonstop flights to Liberia, Punta Cana, and Nassau will begin in June.
Two additional routes will connect Columbus (CMH) and Pittsburgh (PIT) to Punta Cana (PUJ), with service launching in March and June, respectively. Southwest Airlines, which began operations on June 18, 1971, is currently the world's largest low-cost carrier by fleet size and passenger volume. The company operates several variants of the Boeing 737 family, with the Boeing 737 MAX 8 being its newest aircraft. Fox News Digital reached out to Southwest Airlines for comment.
