Ledger has asked reseller CryptoBillis to pause all sales of its wallets while the company conducts an investigation into suspected hardware tampering. The move follows mounting reports that users of the Ledger crypto wallet have seen their accounts drained, with suspicion pointing to a combination of the reseller and spy hardware.
Photos and videos posted on X and Threads appear to show a small circuit board sandwiched under the screen of the devices. The alleged implant is reported to intercept anything displayed on the screen, including the seed passphrase shown during initial setup. Using an embedded SIM card, the device reportedly sends this information back to an attacker, who can then siphon funds from user accounts.
