Los Angeles medical examiner confirms death of Chad Lowe's 13-year-old daughter

The County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner's office confirmed that Fiona Lowe, the 13-year-old daughter of actor Chad Lowe, died at a Los Angeles hospital on Sept. 29. As of Oct. 1, the medical examiner's office had not publicly disclosed the specific cause of death.

The family released a statement to Page Six on Tuesday describing the loss as devastating. "We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona," the family said. They described her as a loving, smart, and creative young girl who loved to dance and was adored by her sisters. The statement concluded by asking for prayers and privacy, noting that she was "the light of our lives."

In the statement, the family encouraged anyone struggling with mental health issues to contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988. The story discusses suicide, and readers with thoughts of suicide are directed to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988 or 1-800-273-TALK (8255).

Fiona was the middle child of Chad Lowe and his wife, Kim Painter. The couple married in 2010 and have been together for nearly two decades. They have two other daughters, Mabel and Nixie. The family has maintained a relatively private life away from much of the Hollywood spotlight.

Chad Lowe is an Emmy-winning actor and director, known for roles in "Life Goes On," "Pretty Little Liars," and "9-1-1: Lone Star." He is also the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe. Kim Painter is a producer and casting professional with credits including "Enemy of the State," "Ted Bundy," and "Instant Dads." Prior to her death, Lowe celebrated Fiona's 13th birthday in November 2025, sharing a photo of her in cowboy boots and writing, "Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!"
