The reverse logistics sector is tightening its grip on retail margins as consumer expectations around post-purchase friction rise sharply. In this environment, Miami-based ReturnPro said today it is acquiring iF Returns, a Madrid-based technology firm that manages returns for more than 200 brands across Europe. The deal positions ReturnPro for international growth while reinforcing its domestic capabilities in a market where return policies increasingly dictate customer retention.

Consolidating the Returns Ecosystem

ReturnPro, which processes more than 45 million units annually and has recovered over $5 billion for retail partners, is integrating iF Returns' front-end technology into its existing end-to-end platform. The acquired technology converts 30-40 percent of potential refunds into exchanges or new purchases for global brands including Desigual, Miroglio Group, and Champion. This capability addresses a significant pain point in the current demand environment, where a survey commissioned by Loop found that nearly two-thirds of U.S. consumers have abandoned a purchase or stopped shopping with a retailer because of its return policy.

Sender Shamiss, co-founder and CEO of ReturnPro, stated that the priority remains delivering value to retail and marketplace partners. He noted that iF Returns provides proven technology that strengthens the returns ecosystem and third-party marketplace capabilities already offered to U.S. customers. The acquisition also establishes a foundation for international expansion under the leadership of Jelle Schoenmaker, CEO International at ReturnPro.

Operational Leadership and Market Reach

iF Returns co-founders Galo De Reyna, Marcello Valerio, and Paul Obando will continue to lead the business, working alongside Schoenmaker to oversee international growth. Schoenmaker emphasized that the deal provides a strong foundation in Europe, leveraging deep fashion expertise and established relationships with more than 200 brands. The goal is to grow the European business while integrating iF's technology into the broader ReturnPro ecosystem.

ReturnPro plans to make these capabilities available to existing customers, including sellers on third-party marketplaces such as Walmart Marketplace. By combining marketplace management expertise with advanced returns technology, the company aims to help retailers retain more revenue and maximize recovery from returned products. De Reyna, co-founder of iF Returns, described the technology as purpose-built for the complexity of enterprise-scale, omnichannel returns, noting that joining ReturnPro allows the team to expand delivery to more retailers and brands.

The move reflects a broader cycle where retailers are treating returns not as a cost center but as a critical component of the customer experience. On balance, the acquisition strengthens ReturnPro's position in a market where the ability to convert refunds into exchanges is becoming a key differentiator for brands seeking to protect their bottom lines.
