Two people familiar with the ongoing federal investigation into Minnesota congresswoman Ilhan Omar told Fox News Digital that her real name is Ilhan Nur Said Elmi. One of the sources, a law enforcement official, stated that "Ilhan Omar" is not her birth name.

The disclosure emerged as U.S. District Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro filed a motion on Wednesday to keep a federal search warrant for the congresswoman's home sealed. The motion, which references the congresswoman as "Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, a/k/a Ilhan Abdullahi Omar," argues that the federal government has not yet finished executing the warrant. Several media outlets had previously requested that the warrant be unsealed.

Federal investigators are probing whether Omar or her father committed fraud when filling out her immigration paperwork. During a pre-dawn raid on her Washington, D.C. residence on October 12, agents obtained the elected official's DNA and seized her personal phone and passport. Fox News Digital exclusively reported last week that Omar's sister, Sahra Noor, was questioned by federal investigators in relation to the probe.

Nathan Hansen, a former federal immigration judge from Minnesota, told Fox News Digital that if it is proven in court that Omar has lived her entire life under an alias, every form she has ever filled out could be called into question. Hansen listed potential documents affected, including federal student loan and aid applications, housing applications, public assistance forms, passport and driver's license applications, Real ID information, and voting records. He noted that many of these documents are sworn under penalty of perjury and that living under an alias could support broad criminal charges such as wire fraud.

Omar has publicly confirmed that she does not have a birth certificate. Her official U.S. House biography lists her birthday as October 14, 1982, and states she was born in Mogadishu, Somalia. She has said she came to the United States with her family as refugees fleeing war-torn Somalia in 1995 when she was a minor. The congresswoman has not been charged with a crime, and materials presented by prosecutors are only allegations.

In an interview with MS NOW's Chris Hayes following the raid, Omar denied allegations that she married her brother for immigration purposes. "Not to my knowledge," she replied when asked if there was any truth to the claim. Omar has accused President Donald Trump and his administration of targeting her politically, calling the raid an "outrageous abuse of power" in a statement on X. Attorneys for the congresswoman did not return requests for comment from Fox News Digital.
