April Thetga, the stepmother of Metallica Harrison, alleges that Harrison drained her 401(k) account prior to a three-week stay at the Great Wolf Lodge in the Poconos. Thetga told Fox News Digital that these financial actions, combined with kitchen knives brought from the family home in Towanda, suggest the stabbing deaths of Harrison's husband, Charles "Chaz" Harrison, and their 3-year-old son were deliberately orchestrated.
Harrison, 27, is facing murder charges for the killings inside a hotel room at the resort. Thetga stated she is in disbelief over the events and described the plot as horrifying and preplanned. It remains unclear whether Chaz Harrison knew his 401(k) account had been depleted. The family's extended vacation raised questions about how the couple could afford the bills, given that Chaz worked for a cabinetry company in Sayre and Harrison held an undisclosed healthcare position.
According to a probable cause affidavit, law enforcement officers found the knives, as well as blood and medication, within the Harrisons' hotel room. The initial police response followed a 911 call placed by Harrison, who was noted as suicidal at the time. The attack ended the family's three-week stay at the resort, where room bookings can range from hundreds of dollars to up to $2,000.
Thetga expressed deep devastation over the loss of her grandson, stating that she wants to hold him again and give him her love. She described herself as broken and angry, saying Harrison destroyed their whole lives. "He didn't deserve this," Thetga said regarding her grandson.
Harrison is currently held in a Monroe County jail cell with no bond while awaiting her next hearing. Authorities confirmed that the investigation into the murders is active and ongoing.
