JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, and Goldman Sachs all reported higher third-quarter earnings and revenue, a development that traders were assessing as US equity futures traded in mixed territory ahead of the bell Tuesday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average futures rose 0.7%, while S&P 500 futures fell 0.1% and Nasdaq futures dropped 0.7%.

President Donald Trump stated he does not believe China and Russia are assisting Iran, claiming in a Truth Social post that if such help were occurring, it would be at a very low level. "They have too much to lose, and we would know about it, and know about it very fast!" the president wrote. This comment comes as he faces criticism from lawmakers over a diesel oil deal announced Friday with Russia, which aims to lower high fuel prices.

In commodity markets, oil prices declined. Front-month North Sea Brent crude fell 1.4% to $105.14 per barrel, and US West Texas Intermediate crude dropped 1.4% to $92.42 per barrel. Johnson & Johnson posted lower fiscal third-quarter adjusted earnings despite higher sales.

Market attention also turned to upcoming economic data and Federal Reserve commentary. The existing home sales bulletin for September is scheduled for release at 10 a.m. ET. Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller, Richmond President Thomas Barkin, and Boston President Susan Collins are scheduled to speak on Tuesday.
