Veeva Systems disclosed on September 30 that more than 175 emerging biotechnology companies have adopted Veeva Basics to build their technology infrastructure. The move signals an effort to secure a foothold with early-stage firms before they scale their operations.
The platform, built on the Veeva Vault Platform, offers ready-made, validated tools covering clinical, regulatory, quality, medical, and commercial areas. Veeva Systems states that clients can deploy these systems within weeks and add features as their needs evolve. A notable component is Veeva Submissions Publishing Basics, which enables firms to handle regulatory filings and communications with health authorities in-house, reducing reliance on outside vendors.
Two customers highlighted the benefits. Whitehawk Therapeutics noted improvements in regulatory and quality processes after moving away from paper-based methods. Structure Therapeutics reported faster regulatory timelines and better quality control after internalizing submission publishing.
For investors, this early adoption could support long-term growth by establishing relationships that may expand into recurring revenue streams as these biotechs commercialize drugs. However, the financial upside hinges on retaining these customers and converting initial interest into significant revenue. The announcement did not specify the expected revenue contribution from Veeva Basics.
Veeva Systems shares remained flat on October 7 following the news. Year to date, the stock has risen 32.5%, outpacing the industry's 19.1% gain and the S&P 500's 13.8% increase. The company’s market capitalization stands at $47.95 billion.
Grand View Research values the global healthcare CRM market at $21.5 billion in 2025. It projects growth to $23.3 billion in 2026 and $35.7 billion by 2033, a compound annual growth rate of 6.2% over that period.
Veeva Systems also reported that its Veeva DQS platform has processed data for more than 1,000 studies involving over 1 million subjects, indicating growing use of its clinical data management tools.
Zacks Investment Research rates Veeva Systems a #3 (Hold). Other highly rated medical stocks include Globus Medical (GMED) and Veracyte (VCYT), both ranked #1 (Strong Buy), and West Pharmaceutical (WST), ranked #2 (Buy).
