Epic Games previews Linux launcher with Fortnite support planned

Epic Games is releasing a preview of its new Epic Games Launcher for Linux today, signaling an intent to bring Fortnite to the operating system. Although the game is not yet available on the platform, the company stated it wants to make that a reality.

Cheating concerns have been a primary barrier to Fortnite's arrival on Linux. While Epic's Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) service supports the OS, Fortnite itself does not. In February 2022, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney noted that the company lacked confidence in its ability to combat cheating at scale under the wide array of kernel configurations found on Linux systems.

Epic now indicates it is planning to address these issues.
