Procter & Gamble Co. (NYSE: PG) reported first-quarter fiscal 2027 results on October 22, 2026, highlighting a 4.0% increase in organic sales compared to the prior year. The company stated that this growth occurred despite a challenging macro environment, with all six regions and ten of the ten product categories recording organic sales increases. The company expects cost headwinds to increase in the coming quarters.
The organic sales growth was driven by a 2.4% increase in volume, a 1.1% improvement in mix, and a 0.4% rise in pricing. Procter & Gamble noted that 29 of its top 50 category and country combinations held or grew their share year to date, with global aggregate value share remaining in line with the previous year. Core earnings per share stood at $2.00, representing a 1% increase from the prior year period. On a currency-neutral basis, core earnings per share were $1.99, which was in line with the prior year.
Segment performance varied across the company's business units. The Beauty segment posted 5.4% organic sales growth, with net earnings decreasing by 1%. The company attributed this to marketing investments, increased commodity costs, and product mix offsetting sales growth and productivity savings. In the Grooming segment, organic sales grew by 4.5%, while net earnings increased by 3%, aided by pricing, tariff recovery, and productivity savings.
The Health Care segment reported 2.7% organic sales growth but saw net earnings rise by 9%. The company cited sales growth, pricing, and productivity savings as key factors, partially offset by increased marketing investments and commodity costs. The Fabric & Home Care segment achieved 4.8% organic sales growth, with net earnings up 3%. For the Baby, Feminine and Family Care segment, organic sales grew by 3.0%, while net earnings declined by 4% due to increased commodity and transportation costs.
Procter & Gamble maintained its full-year fiscal 2027 guidance for organic sales growth between 1% and 3%, noting a headwind of 30 to 50 basis points from brand and product form discontinuations. Net sales growth guidance was updated to a range of 2% to 4%. Core earnings per share growth is projected to be between 0% and 3%, while all-in earnings per share growth is expected to range from 1% to 5%. The company anticipates a core effective tax rate of 20% to 21% and free cash flow productivity between 85% and 90%. The company listed potential headwinds not included in its guidance, such as significant currency weakness, commodity cost increases, and supply chain disruptions.
